NCEA L1

Year 11 students at Tamatea High School are offered a broad programme with emphasis on the essential learning areas of the New Zealand Curriculum.


Year 11 students must select 5 Level 1 subjects.

Students must study Level 1:

  • English and/or Te Reo Māori
  • Mathematics


Students must choose three other Level 1 subjects as below:

All subjects provide credits towards NCEA Level 1, but only Achievement Standards will count towards NCEA with Merit or Excellence.

BP Business Challenge

At Yr 11 all students are given the opportunity to work in teams to come up with a business idea, refine it, and present it to a panel of business people.

BP Business Challenge helps our students to learn about teamwork, communication, budgeting, marketing and presentation.
